Massage Techniques & Healing Systems
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is the rhythmic application of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the superficial layers of muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints. Swedish massage promotes general relaxation, improves circulation and range of motion and relieves muscle spasms and tension.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is the application of varied strokes, mostly slow and long, with deeper pressure. There is no or little lubricant used in these applications. Deep tissue massage or connective tissue massage addresses chronic patterns of tension that have caused pain and fatigue, restricted mobility, and muscle contractions. The deeper strokes focus on fascia, a connective tissue prevalent in the body that becomes more pliable with manipulation. A deep tissue massage may be a full body massage or applied in specific problem areas.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy applies a tolerable deep, sustained pressure at specific tender or painful points in muscles. Trigger points are oversensitive, irritated areas in muscle fibers that cause referred pain to other muscles.
Cranialsacral Technique
Cranialsacral Technique is a gentle connective tissue approach that addresses imbalance in the cranialsacral rhythm. Cranialsacral rhythm is the subtle and detectable widening and narrowing motion of the cranial bones and the back and forth rocking of the sacrum. This technique relaxes breathing, reduces stress, and promotes systemic harmony. Mild and sensitive hands-on techniques that assist in balancing and revitalizing the cranialsacral rhythm are applied with the client fully clothed or are integrated into a full body massage.
